Hello! I’m Susan Hunter, the Founder and Director of Healthful. Thanks for stopping by.
I appreciate you taking the time to look into who I am and how I help my clients manage and improve their health.
I’m a clinical naturopath who is driven by one goal – helping you achieve full health, whatever the challenges you face.
I graduated from the Southern School of Natural Therapies with a Bachelor of Health Science (Naturopathy) in 2007, and from Deakin University with a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology & Health Sociology) in 1999. I am also a published academic writer, with my research recently appearing in The Australian Journal of Medical Herbalism.
When I’m not at work I’m a busy mum who balances a passion for natural medicine with family life. I’m the proud parent of two young children. With a hectic life of my own, I understand the value and importance of keeping naturopathic advice as practical and accessible as possible.
As a double-degree qualified practitioner, I strive to educate each client by offering a complete picture of the underlying causes of your imbalance and explaining all aspects of treatment.
Over my 10 years of clinical experience, I have developed a process for tackling the underlying causes of my clients’ ill health. Some cases are straightforward while others are complex, but in every situation I ensure that evidence underpins all of our decisions. I work with each person to develop a unique care plan which considers your circumstances. Throughout the entire process I aim to achieve lasting results. For more detail on my approach click here.
Clients get options, where possible, for treatment, all of which are designed to fit into your budget and lifestyle. Each and every client is treated as an individual. Your particular signs and symptoms, along with general and/or functional pathology test results, allows us to create a tailored plan with realistic health goals. There is NO one size fits all approach at Healthful.
Meet Georgie Stephen, award-winning naturopath
Hi everyone. I’m a degree-qualified clinical naturopath who considers it a great privilege to work closely with individuals, families and children to improve their health. As a compassionate and conscientious practitioner, I provide clients the highest quality of care in order to help you achieve your health goals.
I hold a Bachelor of Health Science in Naturopathy from the Southern School of Natural Therapies (SSNT). I was also the recipient of the Award for Excellence In Clinic upon graduation in 2017 and the winner of the Emerging Naturopath of the Year award in 2018. In my work I have been selected for notable internship programs where I have received additional mentoring and training in the areas of fertility and pregnancy care, and thyroid disease.
It’s all about you
I’m a strong advocate for personalised medicine, believing that there is no such thing as a ‘one size fits all’ approach to health care. Rather, I know that the best outcomes are achieved when treatment is tailor made for each individual.
In my clinical work, I place a strong emphasis on evidence-based medicine, incorporating the most recent and reliable scientific research with what is known to be effective in clinic. I always focus on collaborative care by integrating and working closely with all health care providers in your broader support team.
My areas of practise include the following conditions:
- gastrointestinal or mental health conditions;
- hormonal dysfunction, such as diabetes or insulin resistance; obesity, and thyroid disorders
- chronic fatigue syndrome;
- pain syndromes like fibromyalgia.
I also have a special interest in working with children and their families, particularly children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), children with behavioural challenges, and picky eaters or problem feeders.
